Laughter Yoga is a series of movement and breathing exercises designed to stimulate laughter and cultivate an ‘inner spirit of joy.’ It is a technique that invites you to laugh without jokes or humour, simply for the light-hearted delight of it. The very essence of laughter yoga lies in reconnecting to our child-like spirit and playful attitude.
In my laughter yoga / laughter wellness classes, we start with a seated warm-up using breath, vocalizing, as well as gentle movements. This is followed by simulated, interactive laughter exercises including some easy yoga-based postures and breathwork. We cultivate a collaborative, improvisational, and spontaneous playfulness to invite genuine laughter. The session concludes with free-flow laughter (also known as a laughter meditation) and will finish with some humming and calming breathwork.
It is a pleasure to share laughter yoga; to offer opportunities for connection to a full range of embodied expression in a fun & playful way.
Please join me for a Laughter Wellness class at Inspire Health Supportive Cancer Care Centre; classes are free for members of Inspire Health, at this time there are no arrangements for non-member drop-ins.
