Laughter Yoga / Laughter Wellness
“What is this precious love and laughter budding in our hearts? It is the glorious sound of a soul waking up!” ~ Hafiz

Laughter Yoga is a series of movement and breathing exercises designed to stimulate laughter and cultivate an ‘inner spirit of joy.’ It is a technique that invites you to laugh without jokes or humour, simply for the light-hearted delight of it. The very essence of laughter yoga lies in reconnecting to our child-like spirit and playful attitude.
In my laughter yoga / laughter wellness classes, we start with a seated warm-up using breath, vocalizing, as well as gentle movements. This is followed by simulated, interactive laughter exercises including some easy yoga-based postures and breathwork. We cultivate a collaborative, improvisational, and spontaneous playfulness to invite genuine laughter. The session concludes with free-flow laughter (also known as a laughter meditation) and will finish with some humming and calming breathwork.
It is a pleasure to share laughter yoga; to offer opportunities for connection to a full range of embodied expression in a fun & playful way. For more of an overview, please see Vancouver Observer article.
* Laughter Wellness Classes at Inspire Health are every Tuesday morning, with Ayla Akyurek or Chris Pollitt and myself alternating each week.

What participants have said about Laughter Yoga with Amy:
“Amy arrives at Laughing Yoga already smiling her infectious smile. As her face lights up we cannot help but laugh along. She creates a safe and happy atmosphere where everyone can feel free to join in eagerly. The variety she offers keeps us engaged and laughing for real. She has been a pivotal part of my recovery.” ~ Linda
“I’ve been attending Amy’s Laughter Yoga class at InspireHealth off and on for several years now. Firstly, the laughter part has been fun, liberating, intimate, and extremely supportive. Secondly, the yoga part has been amazing. I have learned a whole set of gentle but thorough exercises to stretch out every aspect of my body. Amy has been a fantastic instructor in this way; always pleasant, encouraging and willing to go over things, and to come up with new ideas for dealing with various irritations.” ~ Lightning
“Thanks to her warm personality, wonderful sense of humour, and seeing delight in everyday life, everybody in Amy’s Laughter Yoga class feels at ease, comfortable, and laughter comes easily and naturally. I always feel better after Laughter Yoga.” ~ Marta
